SUMMARY:
As a member of Gila Regional Medical Center’s senior management team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will participate in the financial and functional decision-making processes necessary for the successful attainment of the hospital’s mission, in addition to maintaining an awareness of changes in healthcare matters that could have an impact on the success of the hospital. This role requires relocation to the county this facility is located.
- Overall financial operations of the critical access facility including accounting, budgetary, audits, tax, and other financial planning activities within the hospital organization; including management of respective department heads
- Working with system management to develop and implement policies and procedures, short- and long-range goals, objectives and plans.
- Providing financial leadership to hospital managers, directors and officers that will enroll support, create ownership of goals, and encourage active participation in decisions that impact the hospital.
- Ensuring the hospital meets necessary financial regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Contributing financial expertise in the planning of new services that generate additional sources of profitable revenue.
- Managing costs by continually seeking data that will identify opportunities and take action to eliminate non-value costs in conjunction with the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer and Chief Nursing Officer.
- Analyzing areas in planning, promoting, and conducting organization-wide performance improvement activities.
- Representing the hospital at meetings including medical staff, hospital board of trustees meetings as well as relevant community meetings as needed.
- Participating in the hospital’s monthly operation reviews as well as participating in corporate office meetings as deemed necessary.
- Responsible for the administrative aspects of leading the department/team to include budgeting, time approvals, staff evaluations and expense approvals.
- Interaction and presentations to the Board on a regular basis.
- Other duties as required.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff, the Board, and community.
- Knowledge and practical experience with Critical Access Hospitals and management of operations.
- Demonstrated ability to cope with and manage change, maintain relationships with emotional maturity and self-motivation.
- Experience to include strategic oversight with an emphasis on financial reporting analysis and cash flow management.
- Revenue cycle knowledge and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to maintain confidential information concerning personnel, financial or medical matters.
- Responsible for the administrative aspects of leading the department/team to include budgeting, time approvals, staff evaluations and expense approvals.
- Previous CFO level or equivalent experience within a Critical Access Hospital environment required.
- Previous experience within a non-profit environment.
- Minimum 5 years or the equivalent of financial/accounting progressive managerial experience in a Critical Access Hospital environment.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Revenue Cycle.
- Must be proficient in written and verbal communication skills.
- Master’s level education and CPA preferred.
- Construction and financing of a replacement facility desired
- Applicable certification(s) preferred.
- Conditions typically associated with an office environment.
- While performing the essential duties and responsibilities, the employee is required to talk and hear.
- May be frequently required to sit, stand, or walk.
- Moderate to prolonged reading, typing, and computer work. Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity that may include lifting up-to 50 pounds.
