Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for driving the financial strategy of the company. The CFO will oversee all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, capital raising, investor relations, risk management, accounting, and compliance. This role requires a seasoned finance executive with deep SaaS experience, strong operational and strategic acumen, and a hands-on approach to scaling finance functions in a high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities
.1. Strategic Financial Leadership
* Develop and execute the company’s long-term financial strategy aligned with business objectives.
* Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and executive team based on financial analysis and projections.
* Drive financial planning processes, including annual budgeting, forecasting, and modeling.
* Play a key role in business planning, product pricing, go-to-market strategies, and strategic partnerships.
2. Financial Operations & Reporting
* Lead and scale the finance and accounting team, including FP\&A, controllership, and revenue operations.
* Oversee accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
* Establish and maintain internal controls and financial policies to safeguard assets and ensure accurate reporting.
* Drive automation of financial processes and tools (e.g., ERP, billing, and subscription management systems).
3. SaaS-Specific Metrics & KPIs
* Monitor and analyze key SaaS financial metrics such as ARR, MRR, CAC, LTV, churn, burn rate, NRR, and payback period.
* Develop dashboards and reporting frameworks to inform the leadership team and board of critical SaaS performance indicators.
* Partner with Product and Sales teams to evaluate unit economics, pricing models, and customer acquisition ROI.
4. Fundraising & Investor Relations
* Lead capital raising efforts including venture capital, private equity, debt financing, or potential IPO preparation.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with investors, board members, analysts, and financial institutions.
* Prepare investor reports, pitch decks, and board presentations.
5. Risk Management & Compliance
* Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks across the business.
* Ensure compliance with all regulatory, tax, and legal requirements.
* Manage insurance coverage, tax planning, and audits.
6. Leadership & Team Development
* Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing finance team.
* Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement across the finance organization.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with other department heads (Product, Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, HR).
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
* 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including 5+ years in a CFO or senior finance executive role within a SaaS or technology company.
* Deep understanding of SaaS business models and associated financial metrics and frameworks.
* Proven experience scaling finance operations in a growth-stage or mid-sized SaaS company.
* Track record of successful fundraising, M\&A, or IPO-preparation is a plus.
* Expertise in modern financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, Stripe, Salesforce, SaaSOptics, or similar tools).
* Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
* Experience working with venture-backed or PE-backed companies preferred.
