Company Description We have been retained by our client to recruit the Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) of its asset management business Our client is an investments management firm in Nigeria licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) to provide portfolio and fund management services with assets under management in excess of N500 Billion The Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) is responsible for providing strategic leadership in the development and execution of human capital strategies that support the firm’s growth, regulatory compliance, and high-performance culture. The CHRO will oversee talent management, organizational development, employee relations, compensation, and HR governance within Nigeria’s asset management landscape. Job Description Key Responsibilities 1. Human Capital Strategy & Leadership Develop and implement a people strategy aligned with the firm’s business objectives Advise executive management and the Board on HR-related matters Drive organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, and culture transformation 2. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning Lead recruitment strategies to attract top talent in: Investment management Risk, compliance, and finance Technology and operations Build a strong employer brand within Nigeria’s financial services sector Manage succession planning for critical roles 3. Learning & Development Design leadership development and continuous learning programs Promote professional certifications (e.g., CFA, ACCA, CIPM) Build technical and soft skills capabilities across teams 4. Performance Management Develop and oversee performance management frameworks Align individual KPIs with organizational goals (e.g., AUM growth, revenue targets) Implement reward systems linked to performance outcomes 5. Compensation & Benefits Design competitive compensation structures aligned with Nigerian market benchmarks Ensure compliance with pension regulations under National Pension Commission Manage payroll, bonuses, and incentive schemes 6. Employee Relations & Industrial Relations Manage employee relations and conflict resolution Ensure compliance with Nigerian labor laws and regulations Represent the organization in employment-related matters, including disputes handled by National Industrial Court of Nigeria 7. HR Governance, Risk & Compliance Ensure HR policies comply with: Securities and Exchange Commission Nigeria guidelines Nigerian labor laws and employment standards Nigeria Data Protection Act (employee data protection) Oversee HR audits, documentation, and reporting 8. Culture, Engagement & Diversity Promote a high-performance, ethical, and inclusive workplace culture Drive employee engagement initiatives Foster diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) 9. HR Technology & Digital Transformation Implement and manage HR Information Systems (HRIS) Leverage data analytics for workforce insights and decision-making Drive automation of HR processes 10. Leadership & Team Management Lead the HR team across recruitment, training, compensation, and operations Manage HR budgets and resource allocation Build a strong HR business partnering model Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Employee retention and turnover rates Time-to-hire and quality of hire Employee engagement scores Performance management effectiveness Compliance with labor and regulatory requirements Training and development impact metrics Qualifications Educational Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field MBA or Master’s degree in HR or Business – preferred Professional Certifications (Highly Desirable) CIPM (Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria) SHRM-SCP / SHRM-CP HRCI (SPHR/PHR) Relevant leadership or executive education programs Additional Information Experience 15-20+ years of progressive HR experience Minimum of 10 years in senior leadership roles Experience in financial services (asset management, banking, or fintech) is highly preferred Strong understanding of Nigerian labor laws and HR practices Technical Competencies Deep knowledge of: Talent management and workforce planning Compensation and benefits structures in Nigeria HR analytics and reporting Understanding of: Regulatory expectations from Securities and Exchange Commission Nigeria Pension compliance via National Pension Commission Employee data protection under Nigeria Data Protection Act Core Skills Strategic thinking and business acumen Leadership and change management Strong interpersonal and communication skills Conflict resolution and negotiation High emotional intelligence Personal Attributes Integrity and confidentiality Results-driven mindset Adaptability and resilience Strong ethical orientation
