Description

Position Title: Chief Information Officer (CIO)
Reporting To: Managing Director
Location: This is a hybrid position (2 days per week onsite) in Pittston, Pennsylvania - interested candidates must either live within a reasonable driving distance from the Home Office or be willing to relocate within a reasonable timeframe.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fifteen or more years of progressive IT leadership, including several years leading the technology function (CIO, CTO, or equivalent) for a mid- to large-sized distribution, healthcare, or manufacturing organization.
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex ERP or cloud-migration programs and scaling digital-commerce initiatives.
  • Deep working knowledge of cloud platforms, API ecosystems, data architecture, cybersecurity frameworks, and modern software development practices.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations affecting healthcare-related supply chains (HIPAA, PCI-DSS, FDA UDI, or similar).
  • Strong financial acumen and the ability to translate technology investments into clear business outcomes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field required; advanced degree (MBA or MS) preferred.
  • Ability to travel to company or vendor events, co-travel nationally with Benco sales representatives, etc.

Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY

The CIO sets and executes the technology vision for a large, nationwide dental-supply distribution company with significant e-commerce, logistics, and field-service operations. The CIO will modernize legacy core systems, strengthen cybersecurity and data governance, and deliver digital capabilities that improve customer experience, efficiency, and margin. They will direct an established IT organization covering applications, infrastructure, data, security, and project governance, and will manage an accompanying capital and operating budget.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technology Strategy – Develop and champion a multi-year technology roadmap that supports corporate growth objectives and presents clear ROI for each major initiative.
  • Systems Modernization – Lead the phased replacement or re-engineering of legacy ERP and ancillary platforms with modern, cloud-oriented solutions while maintaining business continuity.
  • Digital Commerce & Customer Experience – Partner with sales, marketing, and operations to expand digital channels, improve self-service capabilities, and enable data-driven personalization.
  • Data, Analytics & AI – Establish a robust data architecture and analytics program that supports advanced forecasting, pricing optimization, and operational insights.
  • Cybersecurity & Compliance – Own the enterprise security posture, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, PCI-DSS) and implementing a zero-trust approach.
  • IT Operations – Deliver reliable, cost-effective infrastructure and service management processes, achieving high systems uptime and strong internal customer satisfaction.
  • Innovation & Emerging Technologies – Evaluate and pilot emerging technologies (e.g., GenAI, mobile AR, blockchain for supply-chain traceability) that can be scaled for competitive advantage.
  • Vendor & Budget Management – Negotiate and manage strategic vendor relationships, drive total-cost-of-ownership reductions, and maintain fiscal discipline.
  • Leadership & Culture – Build and mentor a high-performing, diverse IT team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
