POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) will serve as the executive leader of Star Lumber’s IT organization, reporting directly to the President. This role is responsible for defining and executing a technology strategy that supports Star Lumber’s goals of operational excellence, digital transformation, and continued growth. The CIO will manage both on-premises and cloud infrastructure, multiple ERP systems, manufacturing technologies, and a team of IT professionals.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive IT leadership experience
  • At least 5 years in a senior or executive IT role, ideally within retail, distribution, or manufacturing
  • Proven record of leading digital transformation initiatives (ERP implementations, process automation, etc.)

  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on, results-oriented mindset

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership
  • Craft and drive an enterprise-wide IT roadmap aligned with Star Lumber’s business objectives and growth targets.
  • Partner closely with senior leadership to ensure technology investments deliver measurable ROI and competitive advantage.
  • Innovation
  • Champion innovative technologies and automation to optimize manufacturing (e.g., CNC water jets, robotic saws) and streamline processes.
  • Team Management
  • Lead, mentor, and expand a team comprised of three Network Administrators, two Business Intelligence Analysts/Developers, and three Helpdesk staff.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Cybersecurity & Risk Management
  • Develop and enforce comprehensive cybersecurity policies, controls, and incident response protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements to protect sensitive data.
  • Vendor & Partner Management
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and manage relationships with external technology vendors, managed service providers, and consultants.
  • Oversee licensing, contracts, and service-level agreements (SLAs) to ensure cost-effective delivery of services.
  • Data & Analytics
  • Leverage data analytics and business intelligence tools to deliver actionable insights across sales, operations, and finance.
  • Promote a data-driven decision-making culture, identifying KPIs and dashboards that align with organizational goals.
  • Operational Excellence
  • Maintain high availability and performance of 81 physical/virtual servers, 600 workstations, and a robust cloud backup infrastructure.
  • Optimize IT operations for scalability, cost efficiency, and user satisfaction.
