POSITION OVERVIEW: CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER (CIO)

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) plays a pivotal role as a key member of the CFA’s executive leadership team. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CIO is responsible for overseeing eight essential ICT functions: cyber security, business intelligence, communication operations, ICT communication programs, IT infrastructure & operations, business solutions, enterprise architecture, and commercial services.
This is a unique opportunity to lead CFA’s ICT transformation during a period of significant organisational change. You will be instrumental in driving projects such as the implementation of S4HANA, the development of next-generation CAD systems, the integration of AI technologies, and the advancement of other digital innovations to enhance CFA’s capabilities in response to climate change.
As the CIO, you will ensure the alignment of ICT strategy with CFA’s broader goals, championing innovation while maintaining a strong focus on client service, compliance, and continuous improvement. You will leverage your experience in delivering ICT solutions at a similar scale and complexity to foster an environment of excellence and operational efficiency.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a highly experienced CIO executive who has demonstrated success in leading ICT functions within large, complex organisations. Your leadership will be characterised by a humanistic, relationship-based approach, with a strong focus on building stakeholder trust and driving collaboration.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Proven experience in senior leadership of similar ICT functions, preferably within large-scale, service-oriented environments.
  • Strong client service orientation, with a focus on delivering outcomes that align with public sector goals and values.
  • Exceptional ability to manage a diverse team and engage with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • A commitment to operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Additionally, the successful candidate will be required to complete a National Police Records Check, Working with Children Check, and may be subject to pre-employment security checks.
