Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is a forward-thinking, student-centered institution offering over 75 degree, diploma, and certificate programs across three beautiful campuses along South Carolina’s Grand Strand. We are seeking an experienced, visionary Chief Information Officer (CIO) to serve as a key member of the President’s Staff and a strategic thought partner in advancing the College’s mission, vision, and goals.
The CIO will provide proven, innovative, and forward-looking leadership for the College’s information technology strategy and operations. Reporting directly to the President, the CIO ensures the effective, secure, and reliable delivery of technology services that power academic excellence, improve institutional efficiency, and create transformative student experiences.
As a strategic leader, the CIO will guide the evolution of HGTC’s technology landscape, strengthen cybersecurity protections, foster data-informed decision-making, and cultivate strong partnerships with both internal stakeholders and vendor partners.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement a strategic technology roadmap that aligns with the College’s mission and strategic priorities.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of technology infrastructure, enterprise systems, user support, and cybersecurity.
  • Partner with academic and administrative leaders to ensure technology enhances teaching, learning, and operational effectiveness.
  • Oversee budget planning, resource allocation, and vendor contract management for technology initiatives.
  • Analyze complex data and trends to recommend innovative solutions to institutional challenges.
  • Maintain strong communication across all levels of the College, ensuring transparency, collaboration, and trust.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, security protocols, and best practices.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A Master’s Degree plus six (6) years of progressively responsible related work experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field and ten years’ experience managing teams with diverse skill sets and multiple information technology systems, OR Master’s degree in relevant field and seven years’ experience managing teams with diverse skill sets and multiple information technology systems. IT management experience at an institute of higher education. Ability to analyze date and provide solutions to complex problems; establish and maintain working relationships to all levels of the College and with vendor partners; follow oral and written instructions; meet deadlines, and present information effectively both orally and in writing. Experience with Ellucian Banner enterprise-wide information systems preferred.
