Description:
The Chief Inspector, reporting to the Director of Maintenance, is responsible for overseeing the overall operation of the Repair Station, ensuring compliance with all applicable FAA regulations. This role ensures that all work performed by Repair Station personnel meets the highest levels of quality and safety. The Chief Inspector is accountable for quality assurance, supplier/vendor oversight, and training, while also maintaining strict adherence to the company’s FAA Repair Station/Quality Control Manual, FAA-approved Training Program Manual, and Operations Manual. Additionally, the Chief Inspector is responsible for notifying the Accountable Manager of any regulatory changes and holds the final authority for returning aircraft to service, including the completion of all necessary documentation to meet FAA requirements.

Requirements:

  • Serve as the official representative to all Regulatory Agencies concerning maintenance, inspection practices, and procedures, ensuring the airworthiness of aircraft, alterations, and major modifications.
  • Liaises and coordinates with the FAA’s assigned Principal Inspectors (PMI and PAI).
  • Assume responsibility for preliminary, hidden damage, in-process, and final inspection of all items processed by the repair station.
  • Ensure proper tagging and identification of all parts.
  • Compliance with all requirements regarding the Repair Station and contract maintenance activities.
  • Provide recommendations to the Director of Maintenance concerning the company’s capabilities to properly perform maintenance services within regulatory guidelines.
  • Develop maintenance/inspection policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring that Quality Assurance functions comply with the Inspection Procedures Manual.
  • Maintains the Capabilities list and notifications to the FSDO.
  • Maintain the calibration system for all required tools and equipment.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of company maintenance and inspection training programs and that proper records of training are maintained per regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the Quality Assurance concerning aircraft airworthiness and inspection functions.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Advisory Circulars, Supplemental Type Certificates, or Parts Manufacturing Approvals. Complete all documentation according to applicable Regulatory Requirements.
  • Ensure that the company does not perform any work for which it is not rated.
  • Maintains Employee Personnel files, summaries and assessments.
  • Provide recommendations to the Director of Maintenance regarding policy change requirements, training, and equipment necessary to perform required duties.
  • Complete and forward Malfunction Defect Reports for all serious defects found during maintenance and inspection of aircraft as applicable.
  • Ensure all records of work are accounted for and complete with correct entries prior to releasing aircraft to service in accordance with approved Inspection Procedures Manual.
  • Issue Quality Assurance Inspection Stamps to qualified personnel and maintain proper records of issuance.
  • Ensure all required inspections have been accomplished in accordance with the Approved Maintenance Program and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all work performed is complete and properly filed.
  • Perform facility audits to ensure proper techniques are being applied during production, safety issues are addressed, proper housekeeping is in effect and maintains compliance with its approved Inspection Procedures Manual.
  • Responsible for obtaining proper certifications, testing, and documentation to ensure that all materials received for installation on an aircraft meet applicable FAA regulations.
  • Ensure all inspection personnel are properly trained and authorized to perform their assigned duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of aviation experience on various types of general aviation aircraft.
  • At least five (5) years of experience as a Chief Inspector or Quality Supervisor on Part 145 repair station projects involving maintenance, modifications, and repairs.
  • A current FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) license and FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) are required.
  • Deep knowledge and extreme familiarity with all FAA rules and regulations is required.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively in a demanding environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Proficiency in reading, speaking, and writing English.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, email, MS Excel, Word, and AD software. Familiarity with Quantum MX is a plus.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must pass a drug screen and background check.
  • Must possess a valid, current driver’s license.
