Join RMH in this key leadership role where the ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all technical direction of the mechanical department within the organization and be a leader on technical projects. They will champion quality control, engineering technical accuracy, and technical training for the mechanical engineering staff. The candidate will be a strong technical leader with a passion for continual improvement for their engineering discipline as well as a subject matter expert with an in-depth technical knowledge of the key components of mechanical engineering. They will have great attention to detail and good written and verbal communication skills. Great people skills, team focus, and an emphasis on continuous professional learning and improvement are key components of the Chief Mechanical Engineer in addition to a passion for teaching and mentoring mechanical staff to expand their knowledge.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Collaborate with other engineers to review and provide technical guidance on designs and calculations and assist in executing work plans efficiently.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply broad knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices. Stay up to date with industry-specific topics and trends. Keep electronic technical library up to date with current codes, standards, and technical reference material. Occasionally assist with engineering production.
  • Mentoring/Training: Mentor and develop engineering team members. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment including assisting with mechanical career development.
  • Quality Control: Ensuring technical accuracy of drawings, specifications, and reports for mechanical engineering.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside other departments and external clients to achieve project goals.
  • Standards: Creating and maintaining mechanical engineering processes and standards.
  • Client Relations/Marketing: Participating in business development/proposal generation for projects and clients.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with PE designation.
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years’ experience in consulting engineering, including technical engineering management.
  • Skills: Proficiency in mechanical engineering design, mentoring and training, and technical leadership.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clients.
