Chief Medical Officer (CMO) – Inova Fair Oaks Hospital Location: Fairfax, VA Hospital: Inova Fair Oaks Hospital (IFOH) Reports to: President, Inova Fair Oaks Hospital; Dotted line to Chief, Clinical Enterprise, Inova Health The Opportunity Inova Health System is seeking a visionary and collaborative physician leader to serve as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Inova Fair Oaks Hospital. As a key member of the executive leadership team, you will lead our culture of safety, quality, and patient experience. You will join a high-performing Triad leadership model, partnering closely with the Hospital President and the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to drive strategic guidance and clinical excellence across the care site. Key Responsibilities * Culture of Excellence: Lead and model behaviors for a High Reliability Organization (HRO), focusing on Just Culture, Zero Harm, and exceptional patient outcomes. * Strategic Leadership: Accountable for balanced scorecard results regarding safety, quality, and the overall team/patient experience. * Clinical Liaison: Act as the primary liaison between the medical staff and Inova Health System, overseeing peer reviews, credentialing, and the alignment of business and clinical objectives. * Operational Oversight: Manage utilization reviews, length of stay (LOS), and resource allocation to ensure clinical and financial performance. * Collaborative Governance: Co-lead the Quality Committee and serve as a non-voting member of the Medical Executive Committee (MEC).   Required Qualifications: * Education: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited university. * Experience: Minimum of 7 years of applicable healthcare experience with progressive leadership responsibility. Minimum of 5 years in a senior management/leadership role. * Licensure: Active medical license and Board Certification (required upon start). * Clinical Status: Currently engaged in the practice of clinical medicine.   Preferred Qualifications: * Demonstrated success leading quality, safety, and clinical transformation initiatives with measurable outcomes (e.g., CMS Star ratings, Leapfrog scores, value-based performance) * Experience partnering closely with executive leadership on strategic planning, growth, and service line development * Strong background in physician engagement and alignment, including leading through influence in matrixed environments .` We are Inova, Northern Virginia’s leading nonprofit healthcare provider.
