QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have and maintain Washington State licensure in good standing as a CMO and good standing with the Washington State Medical Quality Assurance Committee; and have and maintain current BLS or ACLS certifications.
  • Have and maintain in good standing the right and ability to prescribe controlled substances, narcotics, and prescription drugs, including an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration number; and
  • Participate in good standing and maintain the right to receive reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid, and other public and private health care programs, payors, and insurance companies as required by the Hospital from time to time; and
  • Be in compliance with and continue to comply with all continuing medical education requirements imposed by Washington State law; and
  • Be in compliance with and continue to comply with all ethical requirements of the American and Washington State Medical Associations; and
  • Be in compliance with and continue to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, 42 U.S.C. § 1320d et seq. ("HIPAA"), as from time to time amended and with Hospital policies regarding the confidentiality of patient health care information; and
  • Be or become before employment as CMO, a member in good standing of the Hospital Medical Staff, and, as applicable, have appropriate and unrestricted clinical privileges at the Hospital and at other hospitals in which CMO provides any physician services
    REQUIRED EDUCATION: Doctoral degree in Medicine. Completion of courses from an accredited School of Medicine and completion of residency program accredited to U.S. standards.
    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum three years of previous leadership experience in a hospital.
    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Five years in a critical access hospital in CMO role.
    ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Washington State license to practice as a physician.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability. Ability to work effectively with staff. Sits for long periods at a time. Must be able to work on several projects simultaneously and handle frequent interruptions.

Responsibilities
  • Promotes a positive image of Snoqualmie Valley Hospital within both the District and the Community
  • In conjunction with the District CEO and the Board of Commissioner Chair, the CMO serves as a spokesperson for the District particularly on clinical
  • Promotes the practice of medicine consistent with the District’s mission and vision and supports and enhances excellent customer service and Works closely with the executive team to further progress on strategic initiatives.
  • Inspires a clinician culture of engagement among providers. Dedicates resources and time to developing providers clinically and in leadership. Leads provider recruitment initiatives and facilitates provider development planning activities. Mentors and coaches’ providers. Responsible for contracting all employed providers and provider groups in collaboration with CFO. Implements Fair Market Value approach to contracting. Identifies and incorporates appropriate incentives into contracts in collaboration with CFO. Responsible for provider terminations if/as needed. Develops and fosters positive relationships with community providers.
  • Responsible for staff and work of the Medical Staff Office. Serves as a liaison between the CEO, the Board of Commissioners, and the medical staff in communicating, interpreting, and enforcing hospital policy and procedures. Ensures thorough and ethical review process of candidates for credentialing and privileging. Reports to the Medical Committee of the Board. Participates in the review and development of medical staff-related policies and procedures. Oversee medical staff disciplinary Facilitates problem-solving in disputes involving providers and provider groups.
  • Promotes the highest-quality medical care and service. Implements effective peer review process internally as well as solicits external peer review when indicated. Develops and holds medical staff to the highest clinical standards and person-centered care.
  • Manages and develops District Quality Program in collaboration with the District CNO. Chairs the District Quality Committee and reports to the Board Quality Steering Committee. Promotes a true culture of safety based on core principles of a Just Culture. Oversees error monitoring and reporting systems, including ensuring timely and adequate attention is given to reports. Embraces transparency within the system. Oversees disclosures in collaboration with Physician Insurance if needed. Supports Root Cause Analysis process. Supports all district Process Improvement projects and teams, either directly or through Quality Committee oversight. Responsible for patient satisfaction data, ensures reporting to departments and providers, and Quality Committee. Integrates clinical care quality and management with nursing, operations, and finance, and partners with members of the senior management team, particularly the Chief Nursing Officer, in this endeavor.
  • Participates in Hospital-wide programs for risk management and may be asked to assist in the medical review of sentinel events or those with high liability Works closely with Physicians Insurance to bring in education and support for clinicians and staff.
  • Provides oversight and assistance with the clinical program operations in collaboration with CNO, COO and departmental leadership. Chairs Acute Care operations multidisciplinary work and meetings, including monthly Medical Unit Operations and Strategy, monthly Emergency Department Operations and Strategy, and quarterly combined Acute Care Operations and Strategy (comprised of ED and MU departments). Develops monthly Clinic Operations and Strategy meeting in collaboration with VP Strategic Growth and Transformation.
  • Works closely with informatics to improve workflows, clinical documentation, and order entry. Uses data where possible to drive improvements.
  • Serves as the Infection Control Practitioner and provides oversight of the activities of the District’s Infection Control Program. Works with Infection Control nurse and Employee Health to ensure safety and health of patients, visitors and staff.
  • Participates, ensures compliance, and helps direct the Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee.
  • Oversees Hospitalist program and ensures high clinical quality and patient satisfaction. Works closely with Medical Unit leadership.
  • Maintains vigilance with fiscal responsibility, carefully assessing financial impacts of structure, programs and capital needs, as well as attention to and focus on improvement in accuracy of billing. Along with CFO, ensures proper programs in billing education and auditing for providers. Supports billing department with denials and dispute management.
