Chief Medical Scientist - Microbiology
Full Time – Permanent Contract

The laboratory is fully accredited by the Irish National accreditation Board, Reg no 153MT and the Hospital is JCI accredited.
The Microbiology Laboratory examines a diverse range of specimens for bacterial, fungal, viral and parasitic infections and consists of the main bacteriology laboratory, a Serology laboratory, full molecular suite and CL3 laboratory processing Enteric and Mycobacterium work. Serving a Medical Assessment Unit, acute and elective admissions, a busy oncology unit and a comprehensive surgical programme, in excess of 60,000 requests for Microbiology tests are received annually. With 17 full and part time staff and lead by 3 Consultant Microbiologists the department is currently in an exciting period of development as we continue to advance technology and are part of a hospital wide project to introduce an Electronic Patient record “Bons Connect”.
