KHQA is looking for a Full-time Chief Meteorologist who is excited by the challenge of forecasting the always unpredictable weather. This person would not only deliver weather for the Quincy-Hanniabl-Keokuk areas but also the Kirksville, MO and Ottumwa, IA areas for KTVO and a Tri-State format. We want someone who has the energy and creativity to deliver the forecast to our viewers for our evening newscasts each weekday. Our Meteorologist is also expected to provide daily digital and social media content. Meteorologist job requirements: * Work with the News Director and producers to determine the format of various weather graphics, segments and the best way to present to the community the weather information they need to plan their day and to be safe in the event of severe weather. * The main day-to-day responsibilities of the role will include: Forecasting, producing, and presenting clear and concise weather casts, tell a story that connects with viewers, issue warnings and alerts, produce graphics and maps, report live during weather events, utilize social media during severe weather, as well as write weather stories * Making public appearances on behalf of the station * pitching story ideas and developing contacts * Working with producers to determine relevant weather content in breaking and everyday situations Requirements and Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience is required * Minimum two years’ experience in weather presentation and reporting preferred * While applying online, please include a link to your online demo reel * Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record   The base salary compensation range for this role is $53,000-$57,000 annually. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flex spending accounts, dependent care accounts, paid vacation time and 12 paid holidays annually.
