WHAT YOU'LL DO The Chief of Flagging & Communications is a safety-critical leadership position responsible for the operational, supervisory, and strategic oversight of all Flagging & Communications (F&C) functions at Summit Point Motorsports Park. The Chief of Flagging & Communications must demonstrate consistent leadership under dynamic, high-risk conditions, ensuring the highest standards of safety, communication, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will be responsible for: Provide direct leadership, supervision, mentoring, and performance management for the Flagging & Communications team. Maintain clear expectations, accountability, and professional standards for all F&C personnel. Provide performance feedback, evaluations, and corrective action as needed to maintain safety and operational excellence, working in coordination with Control operators and incorporating team feedback to address on-site behavior, adherence to event procedures, professionalism in guest and sponsor interactions, and compliance with Summit Point Motorsports Park policies and safety standards. Assist with recruitment efforts, including candidate evaluation, interviewing, onboarding, and training of new team members including safety procedures, best practices, and equipment use. Develop, manage, and maintain staffing schedules for all Flagging & Communications personnel across events, practices, test days, and special track activities. Review, approve, and submit accurate timesheets for all Flagging & Communications staff in accordance with Summit Point payroll and timekeeping procedures. Work with control to coordinate staffing adjustments in response to operational changes, weather, incidents, or client needs. Ensure all flagging, communications, and track safety procedures are executed in accordance with Summit Point policies, established SOPs, and applicable motorsports regulations including readiness and maintenance of equipment such as radios, headsets, and flags. Support real-time operational authority during events, including directing F&C personnel and making safety-driven decisions under pressure. Maintain situational awareness across the facility to proactively identify and mitigate safety risks. Additional duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT This is a non-exempt, part-time, on-site position. Schedule may include weekends, evenings, and event-based hours as required. WORK CONDITIONS This position is highly active and performed primarily in an outdoor motorsports environment. The role requires frequent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and sustained use of hands for grasping, handling, feeling, and repetitive motions, as well as the ability to talk and hear in high-noise settings. The employee must frequently lift and move items weighing up to 100 pounds. Work involves regular exposure to high noise levels, moving vehicles, and other inherent track-related hazards and is performed in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and direct sunlight. Extended periods of standing, walking, heightened situational awareness, and the ability to remain focused and make sound decisions in dynamic, high-pressure environments are required, with strict adherence to all safety protocols. Requirements Job Requirements and Qualifications: Required Minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience in Flagging & Communications at Summit Point Motorsports Park, with demonstrated leadership responsibility. Extensive, hands-on knowledge of Summit Point track layouts, operating procedures, event types, and safety protocols. Working knowledge in motorsports safety, race control, radio communications, or incident response. Maintain a respect and understanding of client diversity while maintaining safety to uphold customer service Proven ability to lead teams in high-pressure, safety-critical environments. Strong organizational and scheduling skills, with the ability to manage complex staffing needs. Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple operational teams. Demonstrated ability to remain calm, decisive, and authoritative during emergency or rapidly changing situations. Availability to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and special events as required by the motorsports schedule.
