EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
- Required: 1st Class Operating Engineer Certification
- Required: 3-5 years of experience as 1st class
Responsibilities:
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Responsible to oversee the operation and maintenance of all stationary engineering equipment and systems in the facility to minimize downtime and therefore support achievement of factory safety, quality, production, and cost goals.
Provide leadership and technical expertise to ensure that equipment operates safely and economically and within established limits by monitoring attached meters, gauges, and computerized controls.
Supervise the safe operation and maintenance of boilers and steam systems; heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems; building automation systems; compressed air systems; nitrogen pumps, piping and compressed gas systems; refrigeration systems; plant fire systems and sprinklers; and electrical systems and numerous other physical plant functions.
Oversee routine maintenance, such as repairing and replacing pumps, motors, and other operating equipment, lubricating moving parts, replacing filters, and removing soot and corrosion that can reduce operating efficiency.
Communicate with the Goodyear Facilities Manager, Engineering Manager, Goodyear maintenance team members, co-workers, and business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
Must possess excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage a variety of functions simultaneously.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Scheduling of all Operating Engineers, Controls Technicians and HVAC personnel to ensure all plant concerns and shifts are covered.
- Ensure all plant safety policies are carried out and documented in accordance with Goodyear’s procedures.
- Report any concerns or deficiencies that may introduce risk to safety, health, environment, compliance, and productivity to the Goodyear Facility Manager.
- The ability to manage shutdown activities on scheduled statutory holidays is required to complete preventative maintenance and projects.
