Job Title: Chief Operating Officer

POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) plays a vital role in supporting the operations and values of BBFN. This senior leadership position is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day administration and operational departments, including Health, Education, Economic Development, Social Services, etc., to ensure they run efficiently and align with the Nation’s strategic goals. Reporting directly to the Chief, the COO leads strategic planning initiatives, manages department budgets, ensures regulatory compliance, and coordinates with the Chief and Council on strategic governance and organizational priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)
· Minimum 5 years of progressive senior management experience in Indigenous, non-profit, or public sector settings
· Proven experience managing multiple departments, staff teams, and operational budgets
· Familiarity with First Nations governance, community engagement, and Nlaka’pamux cultural values
· Strong understanding of administrative policies, financial processes, and compliance requirements
· Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills with ability to guide teams and solve problems
· Excellent communication; able to work with diverse stakeholders including Chief and Council, staff, and external partners
· Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic financial or project tracking systems
