SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The Chief Operating Officer is a member of the executive group and has executive oversight and is accountable for the internal operations of the Foundation, including communications, events, office management, human resources, finance, grants management, and information technology. This position works as part of the Foundation executive leadership to accomplish goals, is committed to collaboration and uplifting grant recipients, and is grounded in kindness, respect, grace, and humility.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Alignment with the Foundation’s mission, vision, values, and approach.
  • Minimum 15 years of work experience with at least 10 years of experience running operations. Minimum of five years with direct people management.
  • Must be a strong people leader, with results empowering and growing team members, resulting in high performance and collaboration.
  • Able to quickly master functional areas, knowing when to utilize external resources.
  • Must have the ability to build consensus in groups with diverse priorities.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have a driver’s license and automobile insurance.
  • Occasional travel necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Exercises independent judgment on matters of significance in addressing matters to best serve the interests of the Foundation and meet its policies and strategies.
  • Oversees and is accountable for office management, human resources, communications, events, finance, grants management, risk management, contracting and procurement, and information technology.
  • Responsible for annual operating plan and master calendar.
  • Supports board strategic planning.
  • Responsible for community conversations, grantmakers tour, and external events.
  • Responsible for ensuring public perception of the Foundation aligns with the Board and CEO’s vision, mission, values, and strategies.
  • Ensures effective and efficient operations for partners, staff, and board with a focus on being an always-improving organization.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining all policies, procedures, and standard operating processes, including dissemination, understanding, and accessibility for all team members.
  • Participates as part of the executive group, including advisor to the President/CEO.
  • Collaborates with other leaders to accomplish common goals for the Foundation.
  • Represents the Foundation on national, regional, and local boards, committees, and at events related to the Foundation’s work, including communications to stakeholders about the Foundation.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the relevant laws, regulations, and Foundation policies in functional areas.
  • Responsible for preparing and distributing materials for the Board and pertinent Board committees, specifically finance, audit, investment, and governance, as needed.
  • On behalf of the Foundation, reviews and signs documents to enter into investment-related LLCs, partnerships, and other agreements and serves as Administrator for the Foundation’s 401K, 457B, and 457F plans.
