In 2025, Habitat’s work translated directly into stability and opportunity across the region: 40 families became homeowners, opening doors to safety, stability, and opportunity More than 100 families received critical home repairs, enabling them to remain in the communities they call home Habitat brought its voice to the state level through its first-ever Housing Impact Day in Olympia The dedication of Olympic Ridge in Capitol Hill marked a new chapter in building vibrant, inclusive neighborhoods At the Home is the Key event, Habitat convened leaders in housing equity and announced Liberty Commons, its largest development to date—58 condominiums in Columbia City A partnership with African Community Housing & Development broke ground at 3601 MLK Way, advancing 65 permanently affordable homes in Rainier Valley Today, Habitat operates with an annual budget of approximately $85 million and a workforce of about 145 employees, supporting a diverse portfolio of real estate development, construction, homeownership, advocacy, and community partnership efforts. Looking ahead, the organization is on track to complete 67 new homes in FY2026, with an additional 257 homes planned by FY2030 across King and Kittitas Counties. The Opportunity The Chief People & Culture Officer (CPCO) is a senior executive leader responsible for shaping an organizational culture rooted in trust, belonging, accountability, and wellbeing. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role serves as a strategic advisor to the Senior Leadership Team, ensuring that people strategy strengthens mission delivery today while building capacity for the future. The CPCO will design and lead a comprehensive People & Culture strategy that connects employees to impact, strengthens leadership capability, and builds systems that allow people—and communities—to thrive. What You’ll Lead A people & culture strategy aligned with Habitat’s mission, values, and long-term growth A high-trust, inclusive, and values-driven workplace where employees feel supported, challenged, and connected to purpose The full employee lifecycle, including talent strategy, onboarding, performance, engagement, development, and retention Leadership development, succession planning, and organizational design to support a growing, evolving organization Total rewards strategy, including compensation and benefits, that reflects mission, equity, and market competitiveness Change management efforts that support organizational growth, agility, and cross-functional collaboration Employer branding and employee value proposition initiatives that position Habitat as an employer of choice A strong People & Culture team delivering HR and safety excellence across the organization What We’re Looking For This role is ideal for a people leader who: Leads with integrity, empathy, and clarity Understands that trust and culture are strategic assets, not abstract ideals Brings depth in organizational design, talent strategy, and change leadership Is comfortable operating at both enterprise and human levels Is energized by mission-driven work and long-term community impact Certifications such as PHR, SPHR, GPHR, SHRM-CP, or SCP are valued A bachelor’s degree is preferred and at least 10 years of progressive HR experience and a minimum of three years management level is required. Nonprofit experience, experience working with a Board of Directors, and real estate development, construction and/or retail industry experience are strongly preferred. Compensation & Benefits The salary range for this role is $195,683–$244,604, commensurate with experience.
