ABOUT US:

People, Safety, Culture and Communications’ (PSCCs) core functions span the breadth of workplace cultural and people matters, including human resource policy and strategy; organisational culture and change; recruitment, redeployment, and retention; performance and development; pay, benefits and workforce reporting; occupational health and safety management; and employment regulations.
The Chief Psychology Officer (CPO), sits within Safety, Wellbeing and Compliance (SWC), a branch of the PSCC unit in the Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department). The SWC branch provides process, systems and services to support the department to meet its responsibilities under health and safety laws (Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004, Dangerous Goods Act 1985 and Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013).

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As the CPO, SWC, you will deliver strategic initiatives by working collaboratively with key partners to ensure safety, wellbeing and compliance. You will develop evidence-based, practical and engaging organisational development solutions to drive continued improvement in workplace psychological health. You will lead the department’s mission in developing a holistic, values aligned, integrated approach to health, safety and wellbeing.

Your duties will involve:

  • Working with a range of internal and external stakeholders to provide high-level specialist advice and assistance pertaining to the delivery of a range of psychology services and strategies.
  • Monitoring the external environment to enable anticipation of, and strategic responses to, changes in government policy, including regulatory requirements, as they relate to mental health.
  • Developing and managing strategies and programs which promote internally supportive workplace culture which is free of bullying and conflict.
  • Preparing highly complex management briefings, reports, risk analyses and evaluations.

The role will work in metropolitan and may require travel to country locations

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE:

  • Demonstrated record of achievement at a senior level in the development and successful implementation of organisational psychology management methods, frameworks and standards.
  • Demonstrated experience at a senior level in the provision of strategic psychology services and facilitating significant organisational health improvement with effective negotiation, written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to present complex issues clearly and concisely.
  • Extensive experience in delivering quality operational and business outcomes in support of the operating environment consistent with the strategic direction of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work with a multi-disciplined team of professionals in the delivery of high-quality wellbeing services and initiatives drawing on demonstrated clinical experience and judgement in managing complex clinical cases.
