We are seeking a mission-driven, systems-thinking executive to lead Quality, Patient Safety, and Compliance across hospice, palliative care, and our expanding upstream physician practice. This individual will play a vital role in advancing our mission of bringing hope, reducing fears, and impacting lives through regulatory excellence, reliable care processes, and a culture of integrity and learning.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Chief Quality & Compliance Officer (CQCO) is responsible for developing, integrating, and managing Navian Hawaii’s enterprise quality, patient safety, and corporate compliance programs. The CQCO acts as the organization’s Corporate Compliance Officer and HIPAA Privacy Officer, working closely with clinical, operational, revenue cycle, and IT leaders to ensure excellent patient outcomes, compliance with laws and regulations, data transparency, and ethical conduct.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 10 years of progressive leadership in healthcare quality, patient safety, and/or compliance, including more than 5 years at the Director level or higher.
  • Experience in hospice, palliative, home-based care, and/or multi-site ambulatory/physician practice operations.
  • Expert knowledge of CMS Conditions of Participation (Hospice), HIPAA Privacy/Security, OIG compliance program elements, Stark, Antikickback, False Claims Act, OSHA, emergency preparedness, and Hawai‘i DOH regulations. Demonstrated success in survey readiness, investigations, audits, corrective action plans, and policy lifecycle management
  • Data fluency and dashboarding experience; proven cross-functional partnership with clinical, revenue cycle, and IT/InfoSec.
  • Bachelor’s degree required (clinical discipline, health administration, or related); advanced degree (MPH, MHA, MSN, MBA, or JD) preferred
  • Relevant certifications strongly preferred (e.g., CPHQ; plus CHC/CHPC/CCEP, CPPS); active RN or another clinical license is a plus
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication; confident Board level presenter; calm under pressure with excellent judgment
