The Nepean Blue Mountains Health District offers a wide range of Medical Imaging (Radiology), Nuclear Medicine, and Nuclear Medical Therapy procedures through our various facilities/services with a goal to help diagnose, assess, and treat patient’s injury or disease.
An exciting leadership opportunity is available for an experienced Chief Radiographer to join NBMLHD on a permanent full time basis. Based at Nepean Hospital, this role oversees diagnostic radiography services across Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Hospitals.
You’ll provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple sites, managing radiographers, sonographers, and technical assistants. You’ll also contribute to the design and implementation of future imaging models of care, working closely with senior executives to drive service performance, financial outcomes, and staff engagement.
As a key member of the Medical Imaging Executive Leadership Team, you’ll lead professional governance for diagnostic radiographers and foster a culture of excellence and wellbeing across the service.

Responsibilities
  • Degree in Medical Radiation Sciences (Diagnostic Radiography) from an approved program of study. AHPRA registration and EPA licence. Substantial experience and strong management skills at a senior level in a Diagnostic Radiography context.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to inspire, motivate and grow staff, with proven ability to model the CORE values and drive a culture that promotes optimal patient experiences and outcomes, is culturally respectful and inclusive of diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills, and business acumen to drive excellence in clinical and financial performance. Ability to develop business cases and sustainable operating models.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with external service providers and contractors, and track record of managing contracts to deliver outcomes.
  • Proven track record of developing and delivering on strategic plans, leading projects across a service, and change leadership using recognised project and change management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage professional standards of the radiography workforce, and to represent radiography at internal and external forums.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships, influence and negotiate, and competent in the use of Information Technology and tools required for operation of a Medical Imaging Service.
  • Current Drivers’ Licence (P2 acceptable) with ability to travel to sites across the District.
