Learn more about PolyNovo by visiting our Website or our LinkedIn page. About the role PolyNovo is seeking a Chief Scientific Officer to lead our scientific and clinical strategy. In this executive role, you’ll provide senior leadership and oversight across Research & Development, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Post-Market Surveillance, ensuring these functions are aligned, resourced, and equipped to deliver innovative products on time and within budget. Depending on your experience, you may also oversee the Medical/Clinical team. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll champion a culture of innovation, collaboration, transparency, and accountability across PolyNovo. Key Responsibilities Develop long- term R&D platform strategies, resourcing, and business partnerships to create a robust product pipeline which delivers multiple new products and enhancements, including next generation technologies, across a range of clinical areas; Identify and collaborate with external business partners to collaborate in the development of new products that align with PolyNovo’s technology platform; Ensure the translation of research and development programs into GMP manufacturing processes including appropriate technology transfer to Manufacturing and Engineering; Ensure a Regulatory program that enables commercial access to global markets in accordance with the Company’s strategic plans and consistent compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements and other criteria appropriate to the respective market; Monitor the Company’s Regulatory structures and ensure appropriate resourcing and support to ensure consistent, ongoing compliance required by global regulatory bodies/authorities incl Therapeutic Goods Administration (Australia), Food & Drug Administration (USA), TUV SUD (current EU Notified Body) and other national regulatory agencies; Ensure the maintenance and ongoing development of a robust Quality Assurance program with programs and policies which support the Company’s organisational priorities and protect and enhance the Company’s Quality Management System, and QA and Quality Control programs; and Ensure robust and consistent Post Market Surveillance program including ongoing audits, timely and effective responses to customer complaints and other customer and patient feedback etc; People leadership: Align and inspire team members by communicating a clear vision for success. Establish and communicate clear goals and roles, commitment, inclusion, and collaboration. Qualifications: Post- tertiary qualifications in life sciences, preferably at PhD level. Experience: At least ten years’ senior management experience with record of success as CSO or Senior Vice President- R&D, and or CMO, managing significant resources and budgets and with a record of success building purposeful, productive, cross-functional teams that can collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, demanding environment; Outstanding scientific skills, preferably with international standing in the scientific community and a network of business partners/ collaborators; Skills could include experience in medical device development with a proven record of success developing and launching Class II or III implantable devices/pharmaceutical products into global markets; Skills / Competencies: Knowledge and experience developing resorbable polymer medical devices/pharmaceiticals would be an advantage; Strong knowledge of regulatory processes and demonstrated experience to lead and collaborate with Regulatory Affairs professionals to bring new products to market; Outstanding communication skills including the ability to translate technical and scientific information and communicate clearly and persuasively to staff/ management, board, medical, scientific, investor and other audiences; Well-developed interpersonal skills including the forge strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, manage expectations, build consensus, negotiate budgets and other resources, and effectively mediate areas of disagreement; Strong financial and resource management capability including proven ability to deliver program outcomes within budget/ timelines.
