Description
Pixellot is scaling rapidly - powering live sports production globally, expanding AI-driven highlight and analytics platforms, and building the next generation of athlete and fan-facing experiences. We are looking for a Chief Software Architect to lead the evolution of our end-to-end sports AI technology stack. You’ll be responsible for harmonizing our cloud portfolio, integrating streaming infrastructure for over 1.5 million games, ML/AI pipelines, and consumer-facing apps with millions of users into a seamless, scalable solution. As part of your role, you will: Establish a unified platform strategy - define the shared services, common data models, and API standards that allow our streaming, ML, and consumer products to continue and scale as a holistic, integrated ecosystem. Own cloud software architecture - define and maintain the end-to-end architectural vision and practice all the way from streaming to real time analysis and ML and to our data and SaaS solutions. Drive cross-team alignment - run architecture reviews and design forums; align autonomous engineering teams on a shared technical roadmap. Lead scalability & performance strategy - identify and eliminate bottlenecks across services, technical silos, redundant infrastructure. compute, storage, and data flows to support 10x growth. Own security architecture - Build a security-first architecture that automates privacy compliance (GDPR/COPPA) across the entire video and data lifecycle. Mentor and elevate engineering - act as the go-to technical authority for cross-cutting design challenges and raise the architectural bar across teams. Leverage AI to accelerate - champion AI-first thinking and tooling across engineering workflows. Requirements 10+ years of software engineering, with 5+ years as a principal/chief architect owning architecture across multiple systems at scale. Vast experience in Kubernetes, Node.js, Python, Snowflake, Kafka, GCP/AWS and databases. Cloud-native mastery - deep hands-on with AWS distributed systems design. Clear understanding of trade-offs behind every recommendation. Streaming & media fluency - experience with HLS, RTMP, broadcast transport (Zixi or equivalent), CDN architecture, and live event pipelines. Microservices & API depth - track record designing scalable REST/gRPC/event-driven architectures and decomposing monoliths into well-bounded services. ML/AI platform experience - familiarity with inference pipelines at scale, GPU compute orchestration, and workflow orchestration. Security architecture - hands-on experience with all aspects of SW security including secrets management, stream security, cloud posture, and GDPR/COPPA data governance. Multi-tenant SaaS architecture - per-tenant isolation, billing models, and operational patterns at scale. Communication & influence - ability to drive alignment across teams without direct authority and translate trade-offs for engineering and executive audiences alike. FinOps track record - executing large scale compute and storage cost reduction including GPU workload optimization. Bonus points if you have: Edge / hardware-adjacent experience - Jetson, Balena, or similar edge compute and the cloud-edge boundary. Why You'll Love Working Here Unique challenges at scale: real-time video, high-volume GPU inference, broadcast streaming, and consumer fan experiences under one roof. Autonomy & ownership: high trust, direct influence over technology decisions, and a clear line to R&D and product leadership. AI-First Culture: cutting-edge AI tools and a mandate to define how Pixellot leverages AI across engineering. Architectural leadership and impact: shape the entire cloud software stack with executive support. Join the Team! If you want your architectural decisions to shape how millions of sports fans and athletes experience Pixellot - we’d love to hear from you.
