SUMMARY

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for shaping and executing the credit union’s technology vision and strategy. The CTO oversees technology infrastructure, digital banking platforms, cybersecurity, data management, and innovation initiatives to ensure secure, efficient, and member-focused solutions. This role requires balancing innovation with compliance, operational excellence, and long-term strategic growth.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in IT or technology management
  • Experience in financial services, credit unions, or banking technology preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading digital transformation and cybersecurity initiatives.

Responsibilities

Performance Responsibilities – Responsibilities and duties related to this function are:

  • Develop and execute a forward-looking technology strategy that aligns with the credit union’s mission, growth goals, and member experience priorities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team on technology opportunities, risks, and industry trends.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives, ensuring seamless member experiences across online, mobile, and in-branch services.
  • Oversee the credit union’s IT infrastructure, systems, and vendor relationships to ensure reliable, scalable, and cost-effective operations.
  • Ensure high system availability, disaster recovery readiness, and business continuity planning.
  • Lead enterprise architecture design and ensure integration across platforms (core banking, CRM, payments, etc.).
  • Maintain robust cybersecurity practices in compliance with NCUA, FFIEC, and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Partner with risk, compliance, and audit functions to mitigate IT-related risks.
  • Promote a culture of data privacy and security awareness across the organization.
  • Identify emerging technologies and assess their potential for enhancing member services and operational efficiency.
  • Lead digital product development, including mobile apps, online banking, and member-facing fintech integrations.
  • Champion the use of data analytics, AI, and automation to improve decision-making and personalize member engagement.
  • Build and lead a high-performing technology team with expertise in IT, cybersecurity, and digital product development.
  • Foster cross-department collaboration to align technology initiatives with business needs.
  • Mentor staff and promote professional growth within the IT organization.
