As an Awake Overnight Worker, you will be responsible for assessing the needs of the child/youth and providing counselling and teaching basic life skills. The Child and Youth Care Worker creates a safe, warm, and positive environment where children/youth feel welcomed, loved, and always respected. Due to the nature of our program and primarily serving Indigenous children, youth and families, preference may be given to an applicant with cultural knowledge and/or origin.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Diploma/Degree in Social Work, Child & Youth Care or its equivalent along with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children/youths with behavioral and developmental disabilities in a group home setting is required. Experience with children and youth in care, residential care is required for this position. Standard First Aid, Medication Administration, and Violence/Crisis Intervention required once recruited.
Prior to confirmation of employment all applicants must provide a current Criminal Record Check.
Location: South Side of Edmonton, Alberta
Scheduled Hours:
(Mon-Sun): 12 hours shift - 7 Days on / 7 Days off

· Ensuring the safety and well being of children and youth during overnight hours.
· Developing positive relationships with children and youth through the process of positive role modeling and mentoring.
· Teaching daily living skills, hygiene/self-care, boundaries, social skills, and positive decision-making and independent living skills. Ensuring that basic needs of children and youth are met (food, clothing, and shelter).
· Instructing children and youth regarding desirable health and personal habits, such as eating, resting, and toilet habits.
· Encouraging children and youths to comply with rules and regulations of the program and daily routines.
· Performs household cleaning duties, including chores.
· Performs meal preparation duties and serving of meals for children and youths.
· Administers first aid, medication administration according to prescribed procedures, or notifies emergency medical personnel when necessary.
· Ensure that hourly check-ins are completed while on shift.
