Description

Kinnections is seeking a contractors to provide hourly respite care for a family needing a break from the rewarding, but challenging, work of caring for a youth who requires extra support.
We are currently seeking a caregiver to support a 16-year-old girl.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Minimum high school diploma and 2–3 years related experience, or a relevant post-secondary certificate/diploma.
  • Hands-on experience with positive behaviour supports and complex behaviours.
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident, legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Intervention Record Check.
  • Current First Aid with CPR Level C and AED.
  • Class 5 driver’s license and vehicle (asset).
  • Additional training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Medication Administration, and Trauma-Informed Care (asset).

Responsibilities

You will provide direct support and supervision in the absence of the youth’s guardian, ensuring her safety, well-being, and engagement. The role includes:

  • Supporting and supervising the youth in various settings.
  • Building a respectful, supportive relationship.
  • Planning and engaging in activities – at home, at the park, or in the community.
  • Administering medications as required.
  • Completing clear, accurate contact notes after each shift.
  • Participating in ongoing training and personal development.
  • Maintaining a professional working relationship with the youth and her family.
