JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Child and Youth Care Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and a strong commitment to providing quality care. This role involves supporting children and youth in various settings, including assisted living in a home care environments. The Child and Youth Worker will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our individuals through direct support and engagement.

EXPERIENCE

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Experience in caregiving or direct support roles within assisted living, group homes settings, or similar environments.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is essential and special needs.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members.
  • A background in Child and Youth Care, Health Care Aide, Social work or nursing is beneficial but not mandatory. We encourage individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and youth to apply for this rewarding position.

Responsibilities
  • Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.
  • Provide direct support to children and youth with developmental disabilities, encompassing individuals with autism and other special needs.
  • Implement individualized care plans that address specific needs, with an emphasis on behavior management and conflict resolution strategies.
  • Monitor and document vital signs, as well as any changes in health status, in strict accordance with Alberta Health Services (AHS) regulations.
  • Facilitate engagement in social activities to foster socialization and emotional well-being.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for clients, ensuring all hygiene protocols are consistently followed.
  • Assist with medication administration in accordance with established care plans, providing supervision as required.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of individual care and progress through accurate and timely care notes.
  • Provide transportation support for clients, including driving to appointments or activities as necessary.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of holistic and coordinated support services.
