JOB OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Child and Youth Worker, Direct Support Worker (DSW) or Community Support Worker to join our team. This role involves providing care and support to children and youth in need, ensuring their well-being and development.
Here4You is currently seeking highly skilled and passionate individuals with experience working with children and youth. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to supporting young people through structured interventions, and a dedication to creating growth, resilience, and independence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in Child and Youth Worker, Community and Justice Services, Social Services, or a related field (or currently enrolled).
  • Valid CPR and First Aid Certification (required).
  • Certification in Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour (UMAB) or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) (required).
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Check (completed within the last 6 months) (required).
  • Child Welfare Check (required).
  • Valid G2 or G Driver’s License (required).
  • Access to a reliable vehicle (required).
  • Flexibility to drive to different locations as needed.
  • Knowledge of the Ministry of Children, Community, and Social Services (MCCSS) and the Child, Youth and Family Services Act guidelines.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts (required).

Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized direct support to children and youth with developmental disabilities and/or behavioural crises and complex needs.
  • Support clients in various settings, including live-in treatment, residential care homes, family or foster homes, schools, hospitals, and the community.
  • Monitor, document, and maintain daily shift logs, incident reports, medication charts, and other required documentation.
  • Assist with meal preparation and promote proper nutrition for children and youth in care.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment.
  • Administer medications and complete Medication Logs accurately.
  • Transport clients to and from appointments and community outings.
  • Support daily hygiene routines and household chores.
  • Build and maintain positive, professional working relationships with clients, families, and team members.
  • Travel between various work sites as needed to provide services.
