Description

Fueling Brains Academy is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Child Care Aide to provide direct support to children in our Walden Academy. The Child Care Aide will assist in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment, working closely with educators to support children’s development and well-being. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in childcare, early childhood education, or supporting children with developmental needs.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma (required).
  • Preferred: Early Childhood Education (ECE) Level 1, Education Assistant Certificate, or Child and Youth Care Worker Diploma.
  • Additional training or certification in behavioral support, special education, or child development is an asset.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 1 year experience working with children with developmental delays, special needs, or behavioral challenges (e.g., Autism, ADHD, ODD).
  • Experience in early childhood education, daycare, or inclusive learning environments.
  • Familiarity with positive behavior support strategies and developmental milestones.

KEY SKILLS:

  • Strong patience, empathy, and understanding in working with children with diverse needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work effectively with children, educators, and families.
  • Ability to adapt, take initiative, and follow structured routines.
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Capacity to handle physical demands, including assisting with lifting children (up to 40 lbs).
  • Ability to take constructive feedback and implement strategies to improve support.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Current First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Check (completed within the last 6 months).
  • Successful completion of training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (preferred but not required).
