Heritage Family Services is currently seeking full-time Child and Youth Care Workers to join our programs located in Ponoka, Alberta.
Shifts: 3 days on / 3 days off – 12-hour shifts
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 18 years of age or older
Post-secondary education or current enrollment in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is a strong asset
The following documents will be required as part of pre-employment screening:
Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
Child Intervention Check
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License for 3 or more years in Canada
Driver’s Abstract (fewer than 6 demerits)
Awareness and respect for Indigenous cultures and traditions
Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion; ability to work with people of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences
Strong cross-cultural communication and collaboration skills
Mandatory Requirements:
If you are selected as the successful candidate, you will be required to provide the following documents as a condition of employment upon receiving the job offer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build and maintain trusting relationships with youth
Create a safe, secure, and emotionally stable environment by following agency safety protocols
Lead and participate in daily routines and youth-focused programming
Assist with meal preparation and day-to-day tasks
Support and encourage each youth’s identity and self-esteem
Advocate for the rights of each youth, including access to the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate
Provide consistent, nurturing care in response to the emotional needs of the youth
Teach and model basic life skills such as emotional regulation, cognitive reframing, and decision-making
