Description

Heritage Family Services is currently hiring an experienced Team Lead Worker for the stabilization and secure program located in Red Deer, Alberta. This is a full-time role with 8-hour shifts, scheduled on a 4-days-on, 2-days-off rotation.
We are looking for a team-oriented and reliable leader who is often described as authentic, organized, approachable, and responsible. The ideal candidate will bring strong communication and relationship-building skills and be confident in supporting youth through a trauma-informed care perspective.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

A minimum two-year diploma in Human Services or a related field
At least 3 years of direct experience working with children and/or youth
Must be at least 18 years old
Required screenings include: Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector), Child Intervention Check, a valid Class 5 Driver’s License, and a Driver’s Abstract with fewer than 6 demerits
Proficient in therapeutic approaches and well-versed in the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) model
Solid understanding of child development, trauma, grief, and loss
Cultural sensitivity and appreciation of Indigenous traditions, with an understanding of the importance of culturally responsive care
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and communities, with knowledge of inclusive terminology related to gender and identity
Cross-cultural communication skills and experience working with socially marginalized populations
Mandatory Requirements:

A Child Intervention Check that is dated within the last 6 months
Proof of eligibility to work in Canada
Class 5 Alberta Government Issued Driver’s License
A Driver’s Abstract that is dated within the last 6 months

Responsibilities

Build and maintain respectful and trusting relationships with each youth
Help provide a safe, secure environment by following established protocols and preventing unauthorized departures, as guided by the Policy Manual
Take the lead during shifts by offering coaching, support, and guidance to both clients and team members
Oversee daily schedules and facilitate youth-centered activities and programs
Support meal planning and preparation
Encourage personal growth and support youth in developing a positive sense of identity
Serve as an advocate for each child/youth, ensuring their needs are represented, including access to the Child and Youth Advocate
Create a supportive space that reflects the youth’s emotional and developmental needs
Assist in life skills development, including emotional regulation, cognitive flexibility, and social decision-making
