Position Summary Under the direct supervision of a licensed therapist, this position will provide childcare services for current Cornerstone clients while they are on-site participating in treatment. Childcare onsite removes barriers for individuals who are parenting and trying to engage in treatment services and allows parents to focus on their treatment, knowing their children will be supervised in a safe environment. The position requires a trauma-informed approach to childcare, as many of the children and parents presenting for services at Cornerstone have a history of trauma and/or behavioral health challenges. This position requires maintaining clear boundaries and prioritizing safety, even when children exhibit challenging behaviors. Essential Duties Engage and interact with children in a nurturing, safe and supportive manner. Implement activities that promote physical, social, and emotional development. Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly playroom environment. Inform supervisor of any necessary information regarding the care/safety of children and seek support. Maintain confidentiality of clients. Attend work on a regular and predictable basis. Secondary Duties Assist parents with completing paperwork required to receive childcare services. Enter required information into computer system to record client services. Participate in team meetings as required. Assist front office staff with tasks as needed and at times when there are not children in childcare. Provide updates to parents regarding the behavior of their children. Perform other functions as necessary or assigned. Requirements Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Six months of paid, supervised childcare experience or its equivalent with demonstrated competence in a childcare position. Experience working with traumatized children or working in a therapeutic setting is helpful. Must be willing to complete First Aid/CPR training. Physical Demands Move around the facility and interact with children for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and hold small children (30 lbs).
