EveryMind (formerly Peel Children’s Centre) is looking for highly skilled, experienced, and enthusiastic mental health professionals to work with various programs and services to provide a continuum of mental health interventions to children/youth and their families.
EveryMind is an accredited children’s mental health centre that provides a continuum of high-quality mental health services for children, youth and their families who are experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioural challenges.

SUMMARY OF INFANT, CHILD, YOUTH AND FAMILY (ICYF) COUNSELLING & THERAPY SERVICES

The Child and Family Clinician will provide a continuum of mental health interventions, ranging from brief interventions with individual children/youth and/or their caregivers, to short-term family counseling, and will facilitate therapeutic workshops/groups with children/youth and caregivers. These interventions are designed to improve child/youth development, functioning and resiliency at home, in the community and at school. These services will be delivered in a variety of settings and locations based on client needs. Additionally, this service will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure the mental health needs of children/youth and families in the Peel community are being addressed.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology or health related field with a minimum of three years experience in direct service to children and families OR Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work/ Health related field with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
  • Be a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario;
  • Possess strong clinical assessment and treatment skills with a commitment to family engagement and client-centered service utilizing a strength-based approach.
  • Embraces diversity and demonstrates cultural awareness with critical self-awareness and understanding of engagement with diverse cultures.
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal, team and conflict resolution skills with an ability to collaborate effectively with internal/external stakeholders, clients and their families.
  • Proven ability to be self-motivated and comfortable working in a variety of settings, i.e., school, home, community.
  • Proven ability to build relationships of trust in a timely manner with a variety of clients and professionals in numerous settings.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation for children/youth services.
  • Strong technology skills and experience with client care information systems and Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, and comfortable with the use of apps.
  • Utilize high levels of oral and written communication skills, time management, and critical thinking skills with a strong understanding of role boundaries.
  • Proficiency in languages in addition to English, is an asset. Applicants with the capacity to provide services in French should express interest with their submission.
  • Have a valid Ontario Driver’s license (Full G Class), use of a vehicle with comfort driving throughout the Peel region (and surrounding areas).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including 2 evenings a week up to 8 pm, according to client and program needs.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid setting, to offer in person and virtual support based on client and program need.
  • Group facilitation experience is an asset.
  • A Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check and Pre-Employment Medical screening (including TB test, MMR, TD, Polio, COVID-19 Vaccination), is required.

  • Solides compétences en technologie et expérience des systèmes d’information sur les soins aux clients et de la suite logicielle Microsoft Office, y compris Outlook, et à l’aise avec les applications.
  • Utiliser des niveaux élevés de compétences en communication orale et écrite, en gestion du temps et en pensée critique avec une solide compréhension des limites des rôles.
  • La maîtrise des langues en plus de l’anglais est un atout. Les demandeurs qui ont la capacité de fournir des services en français devraient exprimer leur intérêt avec leur soumission.
  • Capacité de travailler selon des horaires flexibles, y compris deux soirs par semaine jusqu’à 20 h, en fonction des besoins du client et du programme.
  • Capacité de travailler dans un environnement hybride, d’offrir du soutien en personne et virtuel en fonction des besoins du client et du programme.
  • L’expérience de la facilitation de groupe est un atout.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will:

  • Provide skilled assessments, formulations, and treatment services to children/youth and their families/caregivers by employing a variety of systemic and evidence-based/evidenced-informed treatment approaches (including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, DBT skills, and trauma-informed as well as attachment-informed frameworks) to enhance parent/family and child/youth interactions and functioning at home, in school and in community.
  • Provide single session mental health consultation sessions to children, youth and their caregivers with the Tangerine Walk-In Counselling program.
  • Develop, implement and regularly evaluate treatment plans according to individual client and family/caregiver needs, goals, strengths and cultural values.
  • Facilitate the enhancement of the child and family’s informal and formal supports.
  • Effectively design and implement a holistic crisis plan to ensure client safety and wellbeing.
  • Provide case management and outreach services to ensure coordination and delivery of services that meet changing needs of clients and families.
  • Provide transitional support and discharge planning to clients exiting service to ensure sustainability of treatment gains.
  • Provide group services as required.
  • Provide in-person, virtual and telephone counselling sessions as needed.
  • Demonstrate a passion for working with children and families and possess working knowledge of social service, educational, and employment systems and resources within Peel.
  • Participate as an active member of a multidisciplinary team in clinical team meetings, program and agency level meetings.
  • Maintain comprehensive case records and data for all clients in accordance with the organizations’ standards and timelines.
