Core Values: Belonging – Respect – Empowerment – Exploration – Stewardship POSITION: Child & Family Therapist - Bilingual REPORTS TO: Program Manager FUNDING SOURCE: County of San Diego Children’s Mental Health, Healthy Development Services-First 5 Commission of San Diego, Head Start and SBCS. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Child and Family Therapist (CFT) is responsible for assessing and providing behavior intervention and family therapy services in preschools, the home, child care, and/or other community based settings to children 0 to 12 years old and their families. The CFT provides attachment-based treatment with some behavioral interventions, as well as case management and care coordination services for children and their families at Para Las Families (PLF). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Provide attachment and trauma focused behavior intervention services to children 0 to 12 years old in the home, preschool and other community settings. 2. Develop individualized intervention plans that incorporate the behavior/emotional needs of the child and address other factors impacting the family. 3. Collaborate with caregivers, case manager, rehab workers, care coordination, school staff, social service, health and welfare, and local community agencies to provide maximum care coordination and encourage participation from all parties involved in the implementation of the intervention plan. 4. Ensures medical records are accurately reported and maintained on a timely basis according to quality assurance plans, program policies, and contract requirements of all our funders. 5. Screen potential clients in person or via the telephone quickly and effectively, referring out if necessary and following up when needed. 6. Participate in mandatory PLF individual training, supervisions, rounding, and group supervision. 7. Participate in multi-disciplinary and other multi-agency care coordination meetings to address the social and mental health of the child and family as required by our funders and the family’s needs. 8. Meet the needs of working parents by providing late afternoon appointments at least one evening a week and adjusting schedule for the day accordingly. 9. Maintain a clean, orderly, and therapeutic office space to address the sensory needs of our clients. 10. Keep Professional Titles and Licenses current and up to date; completing CEU and/or exam requirements in a timely manner; reporting updates in certification and providing copies of current certificates to Program Administrator. 11. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 1. At minimum, a Master’s Degree in counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or social work from an accredited university is required. 2. At least one (1) year experience in a clinical setting, preferably working with young children and families. Registered with the State of California as a licensed MFT or LCSW, or registered as an AMFT, ASW, APCC, Trainees.  3. Must have a current BBS Number 4. Additional field-appropriate certifications helpful (e.g, RDI, Circle of Security, Theraplay, PCIT, CPP, etc..) 5. Background or courses in early child socio-emotional and physical development strongly preferred. LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS 1. Must pass criminal background check, including Live Scan fingerprinting and Exclusion/Debarment. 2. Valid California driver’s license and automobile insurance required. Must have access to reliable transportation. 3. Must have CPR certification or be willing to acquire on the job. 4. Must have medical clearance certifying absence of TB and drug/alcohol, including marijuana OTHER/SPECIAL: 1. Bilingual (Spanish) required. 2. Adherence to all San Diego County, Federal, State, and ECS policies and procedures as they relate to the implementation of the program. 3. Job requirements create the possibility of moderate to high stress levels. Stress levels vary with the intensity of the workload and the individual. 4. Demonstrated communication skills and sensitivity to various culture and socio-economic groups. Staff must be comfortable interacting with clients in non-traditional settings such as homes, schools, community areas, etc. 5. Availability to work some evening hours. 6. Adherence to the corresponding discipline’s Laws & Regulations and Code of Ethics. 7. This position requires travel within the South Bay region of San Diego County.
