Description

Linck Child, Youth & Family Supports (“Linck”) requires one (1) Child Protection Worker. This is a contract, full-time (70 hour bi-weekly) position starting as soon as possible and lasting one (1) year.
Child Protection Workers are responsible for performing assessment, investigation, case management and family service functions as required through the provision of a broad spectrum of services to children and families. These services may include but are not limited to providing preventative and child protection services to children and families, completing risk assessments, developing safety/protection plans in collaboration with families including kin and community services, completing required documentation necessary for determining disposition, providing services to families where protection concerns indicate need for such and providing ongoing service to prevent future breakdown of family structure.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four year Honours Bachelors degree (BA); Bachelor of Social Work degree (BSW); or Indigenous degree would be an asset;
  • *preference will be given to candidates who have completed the Child Welfare Pathway to Authorization Series and/or are Authorized Workers;
  • up to three (3) months of experience working with children, youth, families, individual, groups and community partners; directly related child welfare experience is an asset;
  • preference will be given to proven ability and willingness to work as an integral member of a team;
  • strong assessment skills in order to assess clients’ needs, formulate plans of service and monitor/evaluate progress;
  • preference will be given to persons with a strong understanding and extensive experience working with other cultures, heritages and traditions;
  • a commitment to developing the highest quality culturally-appropriate service possible for the various communities that we serve;
  • proven crisis intervention skills;
  • excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • strong time management skills;
  • computer literate;
  • the ability to communicate in French is an asset; and
  • a valid driver’s license and use of a reliable personal vehicle.
