Karoo Group is offering an exciting opportunity for a Support Worker who is passionate about advocating for young people and helping them maximise their choices, rights, and decision-making. Duties include Taking on the role of a corporate parent, providing young people with care, guidance, and direction. Building genuine and meaningful relationships with children and young people who have experienced complex early lives, working within a trauma-informed model. Ensuring the protection and safeguarding of young people in our care. Embedding Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) while developing trust and mutual respect with the young person. Supporting young people with complex needs. Taking immediate action whenever the welfare or safety of a young person is at risk. Ensuring the wishes, thoughts, and feelings of young people are heard and advocated for. Delivering high-quality support and guidance to help achieve the best possible outcomes. Supporting the Residential Home Manager in exceeding expectations during Inspection and Regulation 44 visits by demonstrating positive outcomes. Being flexible and participating in activities with young people, as well as attending all necessary appointments. Managing complex behaviours to encourage engagement in positive and structured routines, including support during crisis intervention. Providing care that addresses the physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of children and young people. Applying Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy (PACE) alongside Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to create an environment that supports development and promotes positive outcomes. Carrying out other duties appropriate to the level and nature of the role. Person Specification QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards it within the required timescales. Ability to engage with young people who present challenging behaviours and have complex emotional needs. Two years’ experience in a children’s residential setting is desirable. Ability to work required shift patterns, including weekends, overnight shifts, late shifts, and bank holidays. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business purposes.
