Description Child Welfare Assistant: The Child Welfare Assistant provides skill-development services to clients referred to the agency and assists with supervised child-parent visitation. This role requires the ability to build supportive, professional relationships with assigned clients and to collaborate effectively with other members of the service delivery team. Foster care provides temporary support for children with the goal of reunifying them with their families whenever possible. Bethany focuses on keeping children connected to their home, school, and community, and provides a range of foster care services supported by experienced case managers. The Child Welfare Assistant plays a key role in supporting these efforts by helping ensure safety, stability, and meaningful engagement during supervised visitation and skill-building services. Child Welfare Assistant Performance Objectives: Assess the appropriateness of service requests and clearly explain agency services to clients. Provide skill-development support for children, couples, and families, including assessments and individualized training. Lead skill-building groups focused on parenting, communication, social skills, and related topics. Develop and coordinate group programming and assessments. Create individualized skill-intervention plans for assigned cases. Provide transportation for clients as needed. Supervise assigned child-parent visitations to ensure safety and engagement. Maintain accurate written records and documentation in accordance with agency and regulatory standards. Meet regularly with the Supervisor to review clinical needs, service delivery issues, and matters requiring supervisory approval or referral source direction. Remain accessible to clients by scheduling meetings according to their needs or contractual requirements, including client-convenient times of day or night. Requirements Child Welfare Assistant Position Qualifications: Be at least 21 years of age (to be covered by the agency's vehicle insurance coverage). Possess an Associate’s degree in social work or a human services field. Be able to maintain a flexible schedule in response to program needs or caseload assignments. Have the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance. Pass agency-required background checks. Be able to lift 30 lbs.
