Mak-a-Mini Childcare is a non-profit society that offers daycare and preschool programs for children aged 1-5. Our vision is to provide safe, caring, and engaging play experiences that support children’s creativity and collaborative exploration of their environment.
Mak-a-Mini’s programs are based on the constructivist philosophy of learning and incorporate educational technology to meet the principles of Early Learning. The daycare and preschool programs are play-based, guided by child-led experiences, and take into account the age and developmental needs of each child. The programs focus on fostering emotional, physical, social, and cognitive development and use various methods to assess children’s learning and development.
Mak-a-Mini is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant/Educator to join our team at our brand-new daycare center. As an Administrative Assistant, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to our daycare center’s Director and staff. You will perform a range of administrative duties to ensure that the daycare runs smoothly and efficiently

Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities (Including but not limited to the following):

  • Manage Mak-a-Mini’s administrative needs and secretarial duties utilizing the full Microsoft Office suite.
  • Manage Mak-a-Mini’s correspondence including incoming phone calls, letters, packages, and electronic communication/enquiries.
  • Facilitate the communication of daycare updates through the daycare management software; Lillio.
  • Collect and maintain physical and digital office records that contain financial, children and staff data while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Effectively communicate and implement Mak-a-Mini’s vision, policies and procedures to parents, staff, and community.
  • Support Childcare Educators in classrooms as needed; including assisting with housekeeping duties, nutritional breaks, classroom set-up, rest periods and administration of first aid.
  • Other duties as assigned which are deemed necessary to support colleagues in their roles or support the College in achieving its goals and objectives.

Education and Experience

  • Early Childhood Educator Level 2 or level 3 Certification (Child Development Worker) required
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience preferably in a daycare center
  • Knowledge of the daycare management software Lillio (asset)
  • Proficient Knowledge of Microsoft Office software suite
  • CPR/First Aid Certificate
  • Valid current Police check (Vulnerable Sector) required
