THE IDEAL CANDIDATE – QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Valid up to date Standard First Aid with CPR C (prior to the start of the position)
  • Experience working with children & families within a recreational or licensed childcare setting considered an asset

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Program Assistant is responsible for supporting the Early Childhood Educator in the overall learning and care of the children in the program. The Program Assistant works collaboratively to develop and implement programs, maintain safe environments, and build strong, professional relationships with families, coworkers, and the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures all children and families are provided with a high-quality childcare experience, and provides ongoing support to families as needed
  • Maintains an inclusive environment where children, families, and co-workers feel a sense of belonging
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of a play-based program that is responsive to the observed interests and developmental needs of the children
  • Assists in the completion of all required documentation of children’s development and interactions
  • Adheres to all requirements outlined in the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), and all SPC Policies and Procedures
  • Attends and fully participates in all employee orientation, training, meetings, and family events as outlined by the Supervisor
