· Develop routines to ensure the children have enough stimulating, age appropriate activities including a mixture of physical play and rest play.
· Assisting the Room leader in planning, implementing and evaluating activities and ensure they meet the physical, emotional, social and intellectual need of the children in line with Aistear’s Early Childhood Curriculum Framework.
· Ensure the classroom environment if clean, friendly and appropriate for your age group.
· Engage with the children on a daily basis. Become involved in their play activities; however, acknowledge the fact that they also need a certain amount of encouragement to become independent and to engage in a safe amount of risky play.
· Keep up to date with weekly and monthly activity plans.
· Promote numeracy and literacy with the children.
· Provide a wide range of experiences and activities including songs, stories and games.
· Supervise and monitor the safety and welfare of all children in your care at all times.
· Encourage the children to develop healthy habits when eating, going to the toilet and other personal hygiene.
