About Us- Old MacDonald’s Child Care (OMCC) is a purpose-built private service located on a 6.5 acre property in Orchard Hills, near Erskine Park. Our natural surroundings and facilities provide education and care to 131 children aged 6 weeks and 6 years per day. We operate 7.00am-6.00pm, 50 weeks per year.
About the position- OMCC seeks to employ a committed and enthusiastic person as a trainee educator that has a passion for learning and is willing to undertake an 18-month Certificate 3 traineeship in Early Childhood Education and Care Children’s Services. CHC30121EC
During this 18-month contract, individuals will obtain on the job training while undertaking a study to complete a Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education and Care, to gain skills, knowledge and experience in working with children 0-6 years.
Trainees will be mentored by a team of experienced educators and guided to actively participate in the curriculum documents that guide children’s learning and communicate effectively with families.

To be successful in starting a rewarding career in child care as a trainee, applicants will need to possess:

• An interest in working with children and be 18 years old or older
• Have reading and writing skills that allow you to complete the study and service documentation.
• Time management skills to work full time while undertaking study.
• A can do attitude and an ability to listen and take advice from team members.
• A cooperative nature and a willingness to be a flexible team member.
• A Working with Children Check (WWCC) (A paid WWCC is a requirement to start the position. Applicants can obtain a volunteer check for free.)

Essential Criteria

• Previous experience working with children.
• Ability to identify and provide a safe environment.
• Adequate reading and writing skills to complete service documents to a professional standard.
• Ability to interact effectively with children.
• Be able to show initiative and work within a team.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience within the local community developing professional relationships.

To be eligible for a traineeship; applicants must be 18 years and over and not have completed a Certificate 3 or higher in any field within the last 7 years.

This position has been identified as a child-related position under Child Protection laws in NSW. Applicants need to provide OMCC with a valid copy of the Working with Children Check clearance obtained from https://wwccheck.ocg.nsw.gov.au/Apply. Prohibited individuals are not eligible to apply.
Wages and conditions are in accordance with the Modern Award Miscellaneous Award and the Children’s Services and the NES.
