QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) including Vulnerable Sector Check completed not more than 120 days prior to interview, with results acceptable to the YMCA of Eastern Ontario.
  • Successful completion of High School Diploma. Post-secondary education considered an asset.
  • Safe Food Handler certification.
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education and a current member, registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators considered an asset
  • Up-to date-immunizations
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
Responsibilities
  • Understands and complies with all legislation, guidelines and policies that pertain to the Ministry of Education Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Department of Health and YMCA of Eastern Ontario child care.
  • Planning, preparation and delivery of wholesome and nutritious foods in accordance with Ministry of Health Regulations and Canada’s Food Guide in consultation with the Supervisor.
  • Plans a rotating menu ensuring adequate variety, adherence to allergy/diet restrictions of children and ensuring that all preparation is peanut free and other allergens as needed.
  • Responsible for purchasing of food and supplies needed for food preparation/serving and ensuring that budgets are adhered to.
  • Handles food and dishes in accordance to the Ministry of Health Regulations.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen equipment daily.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing cupboards, fridge and food storage areas on a weekly basis or more often if necessary.
  • Maintaining all health and safety requirements.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
