Description:
The Childcare Kitchen Chef is responsible for preparing nutritious, balanced, and appealing meals for children in accordance with dietary guidelines and food safety regulations. The chef ensures that meals meet the specific dietary needs of children, including allergies and cultural preferences, while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare breakfast, lunch, snacks, and beverages for children based on a set menu.
- Ensure meals are nutritious, age-appropriate, and align with Canada’s Food Guide (or other relevant guidelines).
- Follow food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen.
- Ensure all meals are prepared and served in compliance with local health regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of food storage, temperatures, and cleaning schedules.
- Monitor inventory levels and order food supplies as needed.
- Ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients to minimize waste.
- Be aware of children’s dietary restrictions and allergies to prevent cross-contamination.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience as a chef or cook, preferably in a childcare, school, or similar setting.
- Food Handler’s Certificate (mandatory).
Skills:
- strong knowledge of food safety regulations and practices (e.g., HACCP certification).
- Ability to prepare meals for large groups efficiently.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Pay: $19.08-$21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
