About the Role The Regional Director owns everything that happens across their region. They build and lead a team of field leaders, drive enrollment, hold every site to state licensing standards, and serve as Healthy Kids Programs’ primary point of contact with school districts at the leadership level. This is a high-accountability, high-visibility role for someone who thrives on building teams and managing complexity across multiple states. What Success Looks Like Staffing - Sites are consistently staffed with qualified, engaged people; turnover is low; a bench of developing leaders is growing Enrollment - Enrollment targets are met or exceeded across the region Compliance - Every site operates in full compliance with state licensing; no substantiated violations; sites are inspection-ready at all times District Partnerships - District-level leaders view HKP as a trusted, proactive partner; contracts renew and expand; issues are resolved quickly and professionally Key Responsibilities 1. Staffing — Recruiting, Hiring & Leading Own the full hiring cycle across the region: partner with recruiting, set standards, and make final hiring decisions Onboard new leaders with intention; establish clear expectations from day one Hold regular one-on-ones with direct reports and drive consistent team communication rhythms Coach and develop Area Directors, Multi-Site Directors and Site Directors; build a strong succession pipeline Address performance issues directly and in a timely manner; document appropriately Partner with HR on escalated personnel matters Build a regional culture that reflects HKP’s mission and values 2. Enrollment & Program Quality Set enrollment targets for the region; track performance weekly and respond proactively to trends Ensure programs across the region are high-quality, engaging, and consistent with HKP’s model Identify underperforming sites and deploy coaching, staffing changes, or operational support as needed Monitor re-enrollment as a quality indicator; investigate and act when families are not returning Collaborate with marketing and registration teams to support enrollment campaigns Ensure field leaders are using HKP’s daily programming materials and engagement strategies effectively 3. State Licensing Compliance Ensure every site in the region maintains active, current state licensing at all times Oversee regular compliance visits; verify ratios, records, safety protocols, and environment standards Ensure all staff hold required credentials and that certifications remain current Respond quickly and thoroughly to any licensing concerns or agency inquiries Stay current on regulatory changes across each state; communicate updates to field leaders promptly Build a culture where compliance is a baseline expectation, not a reactive exercise 4. District-Level School Partnerships Serve as HKP’s primary contact with district-level leadership — superintendents, business offices, and district administrators Proactively manage district relationships; surface and address concerns before they escalate Handle district-level complaints and escalations with professionalism and urgency Support contract renewals and expansions; understand what each district values and ensure HKP is delivering it Keep district partners informed on program performance, staffing changes, and operational matters Represent HKP at district meetings, board presentations, and community events as appropriate Requirements What We’re Looking For Experience and Education Bachelor's Degree plus at least one of the following: At least twenty months of experience working directly with school age children Vermont Afterschool Professional Credential Vermont Program Director Credential Vermont Teacher Licensure Master’s Degree in a youth-related field 3–10 years of management experience, ideally in multi-site or multi-location operations Background in youth development, K–12 education, or a related field Proven track record leading teams across multiple locations Experience managing external institutional relationships (district, government, or similar partners) Strong financial acumen; comfortable managing budgets and analyzing performance data Who You Are A systems thinker who manages complexity without losing sight of the details that matter A relationship-builder who earns trust quickly and keeps it under pressure A direct, accountable leader who holds their team to high standards and supports them to get there Comfortable in a fast-paced, growing organization where priorities shift Highly organized with strong follow-through Must pass a full background check including fingerprinting and reference checks Benefits Employer-paid childcare for school-age children enrolled in our program on the days and during the hours you are working with us Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance AFLAC Supplemental Plans 401(k) for eligible employees Paid Holidays, PTO, and Sick Leave Robust Career Development & Advancement Opportunities About Healthy Kids Programs Healthy Kids Programs is more than a childcare provider.
