Healthy Kids Programs is seeking an After School Site Director to lead and inspire children during engaging, enriching after-school hours. Location: Blue Ridge Elementary School in Ararat, VA Hours: 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm Status: Part-time, non-exempt Pay: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour, based on experience Featured Benefit: Employer-Paid Childcare Healthy Kids Programs provides childcare for school-age children (ages 5–12) enrolled in our program on the days and during the hours you work. Key Responsibilities Plan and lead daily after-school activities, enrichment projects, homework support, and special themed events, including arts & crafts and hands-on learning experiences Create a positive, inclusive environment where students feel safe, supported, and engaged after the school day Supervise, train, and support after-school staff, including implementing curriculum and enrichment activities to ensure high-quality program delivery Ensure student safety and maintain compliance with all state licensing regulations, Healthy Kids policies, and host school guidelines Communicate regularly with families using the Playground App and provide support during parent orientations and program events Support community outreach efforts to promote the program and engage prospective families Lead by example with enthusiasm, professionalism, positivity, and a solution-focused attitude Requirements Qualifications: • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age Education and Experience Requirements: Candidate must meet one Virginia-approved qualification pathway: Graduate degree in a child-related field (e.g., education, child development, nursing, recreation) with a minimum six (6) months of programmatic experience Bachelor’s degree or endorsement in a child-related field with a minimum one (1) year of programmatic experience Forty-eight (48) semester hours or seventy-two (72) quarter hours from an accredited college or university, including at least twelve (12) semester hours or eighteen (18) quarter hours in child-related subjects, and a minimum one (1) year of programmatic experience Minimum two (2) years of programmatic experience, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory role PLUS one of the following: One-year early childhood certificate consisting of at least thirty (30) semester hours Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent Certification from a recognized Montessori organization Management Requirements: Management experience is defined as at least six (6) months in an administrative role involving supervising, orienting, training, and scheduling staff, OR completion of one of the following: one college-level business course, ten (10) clock hours of management training, or one child care management course covering planning, budgeting, staffing, and monitoring Employment Screening Requirements: Must successfully complete all pre-employment screenings required by Virginia state regulations Preferred Qualifications: Current pediatric CPR/First Aid certification PART-TIME BENEFITS Employer Paid Childcare - Available for school-age children (ages 5–12) enrolled in our program on the days and during the hours you are working with us Telehealth Benefits Vision Insurance Dental Insurance AFLAC Supplemental Plans 401(k) for eligible employees Paid Sick Time Off On-Demand Pay Career Development Growth Opportunities About Healthy Kids Programs Healthy Kids Programs is more than a childcare provider.
