Description Work Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Workdays: Monday – Friday (weekends/evenings as needed)Location: 5315 Summit Pkwy , San Antonio TX. 78210 Mission: The mission of Catholic Charities is to provide for the needs of our community through selfless service under the sign of love. . Summary: Provide childcare services to eligible clients participating in Refugee programs with toddlers from 1.5 yrs. to 4yrs old. Childcare services are only offered to participants enrolled in the English Language, Job Readiness, or Career Enhancement classes. This position will watch over young refugee children while mothers and fathers attend classes on site. This position will create a welcoming, engaging and educational environment that is culturally appropriate for the toddlers. When not in the Childcare classroom, this position will help with outreach to families to participate in services, file documentation and complete any staff trainings. Position Responsibilities: · *Creates and executes engaging classroom activities, and supplemental materials to teach young children. · *Able to keep young children busy with engaging activities for a minimum of (3) hrs. From 3-4 days a week. · *Able to work in a diverse classroom setting with toddlers (1.5 yrs. To 4 yrs.) From various countries and language levels. · *Able to follow a schedule with toddlers and have classroom management. · * Will be responsible for keeping the childcare classroom filled with necessary supplies, from cleaning products, arts and crafts, toys and games, music and storybooks. · *Will maintain the cleanliness of the childcare room including disinfecting toys and surfaces, opening up and closing down the room on a daily basis. · Will assist with outreach to clients to invite classes and motivate them with offering childcare services and eliminating this barrier. · Seek out donations needed to supply client needs in the childcare classroom · Able to multitask, think quick on their feet, take initiative, improvise in the classroom when needing to come up with a new activity for the children. · Must complete all required professional development assigned in a timely manner · Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics. · Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information. · Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral is mandatory. · Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization. · Other duties as assigned by Director of Education. Competencies: Communication Critical Thinking Results Oriented Solution Oriented Customer Service Requirements Minimum Qualifications: · Education Bachelor’s degree in education, social service or business-related field / OR Experience Minimum of (1) years working experience in working with toddlers and or children and/or one year of experience working in a social services environment that demonstrates a sensitivity and appreciation for diverse cultural populations is preferred. License and Credentials Reliable transportation Must have clean driving record Valid driver license Valid vehicle insurance Ability to operate an agency 12 passenger van on an as needed basis for program activities and events. Must be 21 years of age and adhere to the CCAOSA driving policy Minimum Knowledge and Skills: Minimum of 1 years’ experience in working in a social service environment that demonstrates a sensitivity and appreciation for diverse cultural populations is preferred. Experience with personal computer, various computer software, email and Microsoft Works, specifically Excel. Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team; Must have good written and verbal skills; Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills. Ability to maintain appropriate ethical boundaries and professional client relationship. Flexibility to respond to the needs of a client population that changes daily. Ability to drive and maintain reliable personal transportation. Able to drive a 12 passenger vehicle when necessary. Bilingual is a plus, but not required.
