Job Description:
Position Purpose summary:
The Children & Youth Ministries Coordinator will provide oversight to all children and youth outreach and programs at Brockville Community Church. They will give focused attention to strengthening and growing programs and attend to the spiritual growth and development of the youth in the church and community.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Completed a post-secondary degree/ college diploma program in related field of study, such as Children/Youth Ministry, or Biblical & Theological Studies.
  • Additional education in Children/Youth work is an asset.
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License; with access to a personal vehicle if needed and insurance. A current copy of a Driver’s abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience working with youth and youth programming.
  • A background in volunteer coordination with strong outreach and discipleship skills would be an asset.
  • A second language would be an asset.

Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

  • Ability to set goals for children and youth ministries and motivate the team and congregation to achieve them.
  • Exhibit good listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills.
  • Strong public speaking skills.
  • Self-motivated/disciplined.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.
  • Ability to provide supervision, coaching, and conflict resolution.
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Suite Programs
  • Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Youtube and other social media platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple social media accounts with creativity and accuracy.
  • Understand, support; committed to teach and promote and be able to communicate and model sound Christian doctrine, and policies of The Salvation Army in Canada.
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening.
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $39,739.02 to $49,673.78 with a maximum of $59,608.54.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
