We are currently looking for dynamic cooking/baking instructors who love working with kids to teach our Fall After School Culinary Arts program. Current openings listed at bottom.
CookLearnGrow is a professional children’s Food Literacy and Cooking program providing a superior food education curriculum and hands-on instruction where students gain self-confidence, academic reinforcement, life skills for a healthy lifestyle, and a whole lot of fun!
Since 2013, we’ve taught over 10,000 kiddos to cook in five major US cities! Come teach with us! This is a FUN and REWARDING part-time, seasonal job.
After School shifts are M-F, 2-5pm for 6+ weeks each semester.
Summer shifts are typically 5-6 hours per camp day, with some camps in the morning and some camps in the afternoon, depending on enrollment.
This position teaches real cooking and pastry methods such as knife skills, working with dough, cracking eggs, using hot burners, ovens, measuring, mixing, and more. The position has many steps in the process, requiring clear-mindedness, high responsibility, and ability to think ahead. Organization and timing are the keys to success. This is a mobile position which means instructors drive to schools and facilities we teach in. We work in amazing cities where traffic is part of life and must be accounted for.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Teachable
  • Possess strong cooking skills
  • Experience with classroom management
  • Passionate about teaching children about food
  • Excellent ability to engage children and/or adults
  • All tattoos can be covered, no facial piercings other than ears, nails must be minimal, overall professional image
  • Highly responsible with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Pass background check & fingerprinting
  • Ability to work individually or with a team.
  • Professional in appearance and mannerisms.
  • Able to multitask and work in a fast paced mode while working under time and space restraints.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Technical or College degree in Culinary Arts, Education, Nutrition or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 months of successful experience teaching or leading children preferred.

  • Drive to surrounding communities in the cities we work in, to teach K-8 children hands-on cooking and/or pastry classes.
  • Prepare for CookLearnGrow lessons: grocery shopping, prepping/cleaning for class, etc.
  • Follow the CookLearnGrow, training, curriculum and guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Attend CookLearnGrow trainings and meetings.
