Job Title: Children’s Entertainer/ Performer
Location: Enfield Town
Job Type: Part-time
Hours: 8–20 hours per week.

Pay:

  • £30.00 per hour during performances
  • £12.40 per hour outside of performances (e.g.,prep, or store duties)


Overview
We are seeking a passionate, energetic, and experienced Children’s Entertainer to join our team and deliver fun, educational, and engaging activities for children aged 0–6. This role is ideal for someone with a background in performance, early years entertainment, or children’s education, who enjoys creating magical, memorable experiences through singing, storytelling, role-play, and interactive fun.
The successful candidate will create and deliver a weekly schedule of themed performances and activities. Strong performance skills (acting, singing, or character work) are highly desirable, and experience as a princess performer, storytime leader, or face painter is a definite plus.
When not performing, the entertainer will have the opportunity to work within other areas of the business , including front of house as a door assistant, greeting and assisting guests, or supporting our café and craft room by preparing food, drinks, and materials.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver a weekly programme of engaging activities and themed performances for children aged 0–6.
  • Perform as various characters (e.g., princesses or storybook characters) with confidence and enthusiasm.
  • Lead storytime sessions, sing-alongs, games, and imaginative play activities.
  • Maintain a positive, friendly, and professional demeanor with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Tailor performances and activities to suit the developmental needs of the age group.
  • Set up and tidy up performance/activity areas before and after each session.
  • Assist guests at the front of house, including welcoming visitors and providing information.
  • Support café and craft room operations, such as preparing and serving food/drinks or setting up craft materials.
  • Communicate regularly with staff to ensure a safe, smooth, and high-quality experience for all participants.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience working with young children in an entertainment, educational, or childcare setting.
  • Strong acting and/or singing ability.
  • Experience in any of the following: character performance, face painting, storytime entertainment, or children’s theatre.
  • Creativity in planning and delivering age-appropriate content.
  • Excellent customer service skills for interacting with families in a front-of-house setting.
  • Ability to engage children with energy and confidence.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.

Key Requirements

  • Must be reliable, punctual, and able to commit to 3–5 performances per week plus additional duties.
  • DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) required.
  • Flexibility to work weekends or mornings/afternoons depending on scheduling.
  • Enthusiasm for working with children and contributing to a welcoming, creative environment.
