WHO ARE FAIR WAYS AND WHAT DO WE STAND FOR?

Fair Ways is a great place to work. We are a team. We care about each other and are all committed to making a change to the lives of the young people and service users in our care. We will not apologise for calling our staff great, the best, or world-class. Our staff are at the core of our organisation and we celebrate them by shouting it from the rooftops!

WHERE AND WHEN DO WE NEED YOU?

We are looking for Support Workers to work as part of our fantastic team in our small collection of Children’s Residential and Intervention Homes in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Our intervention homes accommodate up to 5 children aged up to the age of 18 who have experienced trauma and possible placement disruption, who may then present with behaviours of concern. We have recently expanded our provision in the area and are excited to be opening a residential children’s home in early 2025, giving us the opportunity to engage a number of young people beyond the 12-week intervention programme, supporting our overall aim of a successful transition into long term foster care or supported living. Situated in the heart of the Brecon Beacons, young people placed here engage in a programme of exciting outdoor activities, these provide a platform for building relationships and therapeutic work focusing on self-esteem, identity and the development of pro-social coping skills to keep themselves and others safe.

As a Support worker, you will be involved exciting and rewarding things like:

  • Being a Trauma Informed professional - To provide trauma informed responses through the individualised use of therapeutic and, where appropriate, physical intervention to ensure our young people are supported appropriately during times of crisis.
  • Keeping Children Safe - To manage any child protection issues that may occur through effective reporting in line with the policies and procedures and to take an active role in understanding the risk assessments and individual behaviour support plans for young people to ensure they are provided with a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Upholding appropriate professional boundaries - To proactively maintain safe and respectful relationships with young people providing effective support, guidance and care ensuring the maintenance of safe professional boundaries in line with best practice.
  • Providing encouragement and Support - To actively encourage young people to engage with a range of outdoor and indoor activities to build confidence, self-esteem and maximise learning and development of new skills through alternative education to support sustainable outcomes and provide an enjoyable and varied home environment where young people can thrive.
  • Making a house a home - To demonstrate the therapeutic importance of maintaining a clean, tidy and homely environment through effective role modelling and education, promoting high standards of physical care, hygiene and safety and demonstrating positive and healthy choices to support children to develop and thrive.
  • Accurate recording, reporting and communication - Documenting and communicating all relevant information in conjunction with colleagues and other professionals, to promote and safeguard the welfare of the young people in placement.

This role is offered as a permanent position You will be working on a rota basis; Day 1: 9.00 to 23.00 with a sleep in, Day 2: 7.30 to 23.00 with a sleep in, Day 3: 7.30 to 10.00, Day 4 to 6 off.
